KENAPA HARI INI?
THIS IS HOW AND WHEN IT ALL STARTED.
Ya, what's with today that makes me FINALLY decided to create this blog?
The same question I've been asking myself for the last few hours before this very first entry posted.
Being a writer, well, to be exact, a "well-known-writer" is actually what i've always wanted to be since i was a kid. Well, not really a kid. It's was back then when i was in high-school and i was, 16 or early 17, if i'm not mistaken, it was between 2003 to 2004.
It's was the era of Mastika and Variasi and all those mystery and paranormal tabloid magazine that was was "so hot" in the market that time. And YES! it was really a 'hot stuff' and it was hot as, every-time you went to someone's house, you will find 2 or maybe more or at-least 1 copy with some major ridiculous 'Jaw-dropping-eye-popping' headlines on the cover, like "MAYAT USTAZ BERBAU DAN BERULAT SAAT DI MANDIKAN" or "ROH WANITA MENGANDUNG MATI DIROGOL ORANG MINYAK MENGGANAS". Ok that's a little exaggerate. There's was no pregnant lady being raped or harmed by Orang Minyak ever reported to the local authority. Don't worry. But, something EXTREME like that with the ever so scary and crazy front cover illustrations just to make it more stands-out with others. It's one of the classic old-fashioned promotional strategies that still usable until now. But only for certain magazine like it's kind. Definitely not workable for men's or fashion magazine.
As for me, i was fascinated, NO..not fascinated, more like OBSESSED, with this 2 same-kind magazine and that was BICARA & PESONA. Both magazines seems to have a simple yet interesting headlines and cover illustration. Simple and interesting as in, no extreme ridiculous headlines. The illustration..., well, it's still scary and crazy, but it's not too much. But, that's not just it. It was how their editors and writes interpreted each contents with proper wording and grammar that makes it more interesting. Both magazine was from 2 different publisher, editors and writers. Simple understanding, it's from 2 different company, but, both magazine happens to have another thing in common on the contents, not sure which one was the 'copy-cat', but they were having this monthly writing contest section for the readers to submit their 'so-called' paranormal experience. First price was RM80, and back then in high-school, RM80 it's a-lot of money.
Even-though the editors knew half the experience submitted by the readers was more of an imagination instead-of real experience, but i think it was evaluated by their writings and how they expressed and interpreted the story. And, trust me.., there was a-lot of seriously good writers with their 'bad-ass' story out there, and of-course...., i wasn't one of them. I did submitted few stories, but never make the cut. SAD? Tell me about it!
I'm the person who always got fascinated with this mystery and paranormal and dark genre and it was so great and fun writing those stuff back then. So fast-forward, i did a-lot of readings indie-article, some urban poems, novels especially Ahadiat Akasha & Ramlee Awang Murshid that unleashed the eager-to-be a writer in me.
